| IP China 2007 – The 3rd China Integrated Circuit and Software Intellectual Property Summit and the 4th China Information Industry Intellectual Property and Technical Standard Summit Forum Held Ceremoniously in Beijing |
On Nov. 29-30, 2007, IP China 2007 – The 3rd China Integrated Circuit and Software Intellectual Property Summit and the 4th China Information Industry Intellectual Property and Technical Standard Summit Forum (hereinafter referred to as “the summit”) was held ceremoniously in Beijing.
This summit was jointly sponsored by Ministry Of Information Industry Software and Integrated Circuit Promotion Center (CSIP), MII Intellectual Property Center, CESI Standardization Development Research Center, and China Electronics Standardization Association, and received strong support from Department of Science & Technology and Department of Electronic Information Products Management, Ministry of Information Industry, Department of High & New Technology and Department of Industrialization, Ministry of Science & Technology, and Department of Coordination and Management, State Intellectual Property Office. Over 300 guests from government, industry, domestic and overseas IP service providers, and famous law firms as well as domestic and overseas integrated circuit and software enterprises attended the summit. Experts from law firms, informationization field, intellectual property field and enterprises standard field as well as representatives from IT enterprises like Microsoft made keynote speeches.
Lou Qinjian, Deputy Minister of Information Industry, said in his speech, “In such a critical period of China’s information industry, researching intellectual property and technical standard is not only an active response to the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress but also an urgent need for the sustained development of information industry. Promoting technical standard integration and intellectual property protection is an important mission for the intellectual property personnel of information industry.”
As an annual intellectual property feast, this summit focused on the intellectual property information and standard of the information industry to explain the patent-based development model, build intellectual property service platform, promote enterprise intellectual property operation consciousness, provide legal and management practice training, and share advanced intellectual property work concept, to comprehensively promote the healthy development and prosperity of intellectual property in relevant industries.
During the summit, IP China took theme training as its opening session in the first day. Domestic and overseas experienced intellectual property experts were invited to introduce Europe and US intellectual property legal system, intellectual property management practice, enterprises intellectual property financing, and intellectual property disputes handling, providing effective guidance and strong support for perfecting China’s intellectual property system, enhancing social intellectual property operation consciousness, and promoting domestic and overseas intellectual property cooperation. In the second day, the theme conference organized in-depth discussion on intellectual property appraisal, trade and standardization, and focused on most representative technical areas to introduce domestic and overseas patent trade cases, analyze the intellectual property strategy of the standardization working group, and share advanced intellectual property work concept.
Representatives from industries and enterprises expressed that independent innovation and intellectual property protection are not only a key channel to enhance enterprises’ independent innovation capability but also the strongest technical support for building an innovative country. We should actively support independent technical results to apply for domestic and overseas patents, strengthen intellectual property protection, and continuously enhance our own core competitiveness. Besides, they also said that this summit had built an information communication platform between government and enterprises and strongly promoted enterprises to enhance intellectual property operation consciousness.
According to Dr. Qiu Shanqin, deputy director of CSIP, to promote the healthy development of IP industry and establish its core competitiveness and encourage enterprises to develop patent technologies with independent intellectual property, CSIP has organized two sessions of IP summit in 2005 and 2006 to discuss China’s IP strategy from different perspectives, assist enterprises to enhance intellectual property utility efficiency, and provide platform for creating a safe and stable intellectual property environment, which have won high praise from both domestic and overseas industry circle. China Information Industry Intellectual Property and Technical Standard Summit Forum has become a brand activity for discussing intellectual property and technical standard issues of IT industry in three years, and has won recognition from the industry for its scale and influence.
